Frequently asked questions
Which character works best as a souvenir?
The one your visitors already associate with you. For a zoo that is usually the animal you are known for, for a museum a figure from the collection or the exhibition, and for a landmark the shape itself translated into a character.
If nothing obvious presents itself, we help you think it through.
How long does the whole process take, from design to delivery?
That depends on the design, the quantity and the packaging, so we would rather not quote a fixed number of weeks that turns out to be wrong. The process always has three parts: the design with your approval on a physical sample, production, and transport.
If you have a fixed date, give it to us with your request. We will work backwards from that day and tell you honestly whether it is achievable.
Can Plutoys help with the design and the packaging?
Yes. One clear front view is enough to begin, and a logo or a rough sketch also works. We translate it into pattern pieces and help you think through pose, proportions and detailing.
If you have nothing at all yet, we develop the character from a blank page. Packaging is part of it too: loose, individually bagged, with a hangtag or in sets, whichever your situation calls for.
Can we order a small quantity to test the market?
You can start at 500 pieces, but bear in mind that pattern, sample and testing cost the same whatever the quantity. On a test run the unit price is therefore noticeably higher.
Many venues instead choose one size to start with and add a second once it proves itself; the character work is then already done.
